Matek F405 WTE Flight Controller for RC FPV Racing Drone

The Matek F405-WTE is an upgraded flight controller specially designed for fixed-wing applications. It features an STM32F405RGT6 MCU running at 168MHz with 1MB of flash memory, along with an ICM42688-P IMU, SPL06-001 barometer, and AT7456E OSD. The flight controller also includes a MicroSD card slot for blackbox logging.

In terms of connectivity, the F405-WTE offers ESP WiFi telemetry, an ExpressLRS 2.4GHz receiver, 6 UARTs, and 12 PWM outputs. It has a single I2C bus as well. The current sensor is rated for up to 220A, with a 3.3V ADC (scaled to 150 in INAV or 66.7A/V in ArduPilot).

Physically, the F405-WTE measures 44 x 29 x 12.7mm and weighs 22g with the USB/buzzer adapter. It uses a 25 x 25mm mounting pattern with 2mm holes.

The package includes the F405-WTE flight controller, a USB Type-C/buzzer extender with a 20cm JST-SH-6P cable, two IPEX-MHF1 2.4GHz antennas, and a 35V 470uF Rubycon ZLH capacitor. The board is shipped with Dupont 2.54 pins unsoldered.

For ArduPilot users, the ESP8266 WiFi telemetry can be flashed using the ESP_NodeMCU-PyFlasher tool and the provided firmware-esp01_1m.bin file. The ExpressLRS 2.4GHz receiver can be flashed either via WiFi or UART.

Frsky Smartport telemetry is supported using a non-inverted S.Port signal on a spare UART TX pin. The SERIALX_BAUD should be set to 57, SERIALX_OPTIONS to 7, and SERIALX_PROTOCOL to 4 or 10 (for yaapu).

The F405-WTE also includes two PINIO (programmable I/O) outputs, one for a 9V power switch (PINIO1) and another for a camera switch (PINIO2). These can be controlled using RC channel options 28, 34, 35, and 36.

It's worth noting that the F405-WTE comes preloaded with INAV firmware 4.1.0 for the MATEKF405TE_SD target, which is not yet available in the INAV Configurator 4.x.x. This target will be supported in INAV 5.0. The ESP8285 also has ExpressLRS 2.x firmware preloaded with the binding phrase "123456", so the traditional binding procedure will not work, and the receiver must be flashed without a binding phrase or with your own custom phrase.
